History
2000
Compelled by the need to create a responsible culture of consumption based on the common sense philosophy of life and based on our graduate thesis in Industrial Design, we (Ximena and Jorge) have created Colombia Cyclus in Bogota.
Starting with a small budget, we initiated an experimental process that was quite useful. Unused materials such as billboard covers, truck tarps, tires and vinyl discs, among others, were the supplies that strengthened our creative process.
The winner, the tire inner-tube-- which became the flagship material for Cyclus due to its properties and characteristics -- allows us to design a variety of products, such as luggage and other accessories.
2003
We grew to increase quality and design! During this year, along with a working team, we developed new techniques for the collection and transformation of tire inner-tubes.
During this period, we made our first export to Spain.
2004
We consolidated our luggage line and doubled our efforts to put Cyclus on the international market, growing our visibility in the United States, France and Spain.
We also participated in the Barcelona Forum.
2005
We were recognized as the Best Industrial Green Product, at Colombia's 2005 BioExpo, as well as awarded with the National Prize for Cleanest Production in 2005.
2006-2008
We continue working to find new ways of using alternative materials, as we believe it is always possible to reinvent.
2009
In June, we opened our first store in Bogota, successfully consolidating our product lines under different categories and seasons.
Of these the Pagolín line stood out, which takes the biomechanical functions of a close relative of the Armadillo as inspiration. With this fusion between nature and technology we've shown that we see nature as a leading example, to be admired and respected. It is because of these efforts that the Biomimicry Institute chose us to showcase our products at the highest industry level showcase for Bionic Design in the world.
We won the 2009 National Export Prize, and were recognized with the Honorable Mention for the 2009 Portafolio Awards in Colombia.
2010
We received the Steel Pen Award in the Industrial Design category.
2011
We are reinventing ourselves. Our goal is to create better manufacturing processes, new product lines and a new brand image.
